Amorphophallus titanum

    Zoological collecting expeditions ventured into tropical countries to bring “foreign” plants back to the homeland, where wealthy Europeans showcased them in their gardens.
    A plant native to Indonesia, Amorphophallus titanum (giant misshapen penis), is a rare and striking attraction in European greenhouses. One of the reasons for its popularity is its rare flowering and the intense odour of decay it emits during that time.
