“Halal Love” envisions a world where faith and human sexuality intertwine, challenging boundaries between religious devotion and complexities of sexual identity.
The project consists of three photographic diptychs that reimagine mahya, an Ottoman tradition of illuminated messages displayed between minarets during Ramadan. The digitally manipulated images are paired with scenes of intimacy that bear a tension with faith, complicating familiar narratives and offering an alternative vision.
